READING PROGRAM

THE PURPOSE
· To expand understanding of and participation in God’s mission;
· To increase sensitivity to all human beings-their needs, interest & concerns;
· To encourage critical thinking about issues facing humanity today;
· To grow in understanding of Scripture as it relates to Christian faith in
       contemporary life;
· To enhance self-knowledge and to act from that knowledge; and
· To strengthen involvement in local global Christian mission.

You may choose any of the four plans. You should enroll in one of the plans and report completion of reading requirements to the Secretary of Program Resources in August. The five categories are Education for Mission, Nurturing for Community, Social Action, Spiritual Growth, and Leadership Development.

You may select books from 2014-2019 reading lists if not included in previous reports. Kindles are available for purchase on-line.

*Bonus Books count as two books in Education for Mission or Social Action or as one book in either of these two categories.
Look for the 2019 UMW mission study books to earn credit.
