The meeting started by all members reading the purpose in unison.  Carol Finn led prayer.

  • TREASURER’S REPORT was given by Monica Bogle. Vicky Crafton moved to accept the report.  Jan Nutter seconded.  Report was approved.

    • BUDGET ISSUES:  Monica reported that we went over budget last year and we need to lower our expenses.

    • The local missions line item was discussed.  There was discussion that some women would prefer to give money to their individual circles for local missions and aren’t giving to the UMW board as a whole.  This causes overlap and keeps us from meeting our budget.  Nancy Doty said that the UMW is set up for one treasurer, and not for individual treasurers for each circle.  However, our church didn’t make this change when UMW make the change.  The board discussed whether there should be only one treasurer on the board that all money funnels through, or continue with individual treasurers from each circle.  It was noted that members of individual circles hesitate to give to the UMW as a whole because they don’t feel that they know where their money is going.  No action was taken.

    • Vicky Crafton suggested that we implement a pledge service.  Carol explained how the pledge service worked in her previous church.  Nancy suggested that we implement a pledge service in the fall for 2015.

    • Kay reported that we always meet our Conference pledge.

    • Monica reported that we received an honorarium for Rhea Coleman and Sylvia James in honor of their service to the church.  Linda Scott suggested that we ask Rhea and Sylvia what they would like to donation to go toward.

    • Jackie stated that she needs to know within the next week the number of people who are attending Mission U so she can order books.  Mission U is July 18-19.  Mission U will be held in Milan, TN.

    • Program books will be purchased before the next Board Meeting for each circle president, the unit president, and one for the library.

  • PRAYER AND SELF DENIAL
