MEALS FOR WESLEY FOUNDATION
Leah from Wesley Foundation has again requested Tuesday night dinners. A letter was distributed to Circle Chairwomen with dates and times.
DISTRICT DAY APART AND MISSION U
This was attended by Linda Short, Carol Wimberly and Jackie Beauchamp.
Linda Short encouraged everyone to attend a mission study. She told us about the PET Program (Personal Energy Transportation for the Mobility Impaired), a mission where wheelchairs are built for disabled people in third-world countries, giving them mobility and restoring their dignity. Many times they allow them to return to work. These people are crawling around on the ground. Funds are needed. These are specifically designed for the terrain of these countries. Linda is suggesting that this ministry be considered for the World Thank Service.
Linda also reported on the benefits of Reelfoot Rural Ministry.
Jackie reported on attendance. Our district attendance increased from 40 in 2012 to 64 in 2014.
Carol attended a different class. It was a good session with input for people all around the conference.
UMW MORE
District Retreat at Huntington First United Methodist Church CLC is August 9 from 10:00-2:00. There will be lunch. Work will be done on sewing kits, rice bags, shawls and more. There will be a silent auction. They are asking that everybody bring a kitchen item for the silent auction.

This will be held on October 11 at Flatwoods United Methodist Church, located between Paris and Camden. This is when bras and sewing kits are due. Some reports are also due on that day.
YEAR END REPORT
This is due August 15. Carol had a question about the Charter for Racial Justice Policies and if we met this requirement. Carol Wimberley wrote letters to senators and congressmen regarding laws regarding racial equality. Jennifer suggested that in the future, we should have a concerted effort to sponsor programs targeted at racial unity, not just programs that happen to have non-caucasians as recipients.
SOCIAL JUSTICE REPORT
Effie reported that we supplied printed material on human trafficking. We keep local units apprised of the problem of human trafficking. We participate with several local units on food drives, assist with community kitchen, and filling backpacks for the Backpack Program. We also provide Thanksgiving Dinner for the needy.

website.

prostitution. These can be taken to the
District Annual meeting on October 11 or given to Carol Finn. Effie recommended that a box for collection
of bras be placed in the UMW room.

collecting gently used shoes as a fundraiser/mission project. These are being collected in the church
office.
