· Mission Focus: other world countries, Methodist Social Center, born as a response to work among the poor and their struggle to development. Linda took notes from the meeting about Haiti and shared that the people of Haiti are poorly educated, very hungry, 60% of income spent on food, water is contaminated, women have no rights (can’t vote, battered by men), 300,000 are living in slavery – Nicaragua trips coming up will be a
good opportunity to spread love and hope.
· Linda thought of prayer requests for Haiti: Souls of battered women, hungry children, education be improved, realize the power and love of God, purification of unclean water, strength of Haiti’s
leaders to end slavery and bring peace, pray that God’s love be a gift, may
Haiti be free of war
· Linda led us in a prayer
· Vicky read “Listen” from the Response magazine. The topic was about how we should care for the Earth and be stewards of HIS creation because it is HIS not because it is useful to us. Church should play a role in supporting a more ecologically and sustainable world.
